Major highlights include the Cup Bearer Fresco, the Prince of the Lilies Fresco, and, most famous of all, the Charging Bull Fresco.
This large museum houses the most extraordinary collections of ancient Greek artifacts you'll ever find. You'll easily realize why this place is held in high regard after a few hours of exploring the 2-story building. Over 5500 years of Cretan history are found in the building, with the Minoan collection topping the list as the most alluring artifact. Displayed are ancient pottery, jewelry, and ceremonial pieces of different ranges. Amongst them are the Heraklion attractions such as the Koules Venetian Fortress, Heraklion Archeological Museum, and other sights. These pieces are symbols of Greece's beautiful story and ancient history.
Santorini is what you might imagine an archetypal Greek Island to be, with its white-washed houses, churches, and blue sky. This beautiful island was formed by a huge volcanic eruption, creating a large lagoon in the middle of the island. It is consequently surrounded by cliffs on three sides. It still has an active volcano, the only one in the world whose crater is in the sea. Santorini has a reputation of being a romantic island with its crystal-clear waters. You can add to this the island's amazing sunsets. Akrotiri is an ancient city dating back to the Minoan civilization (2700–1420 BC), which was rediscovered only 50 years ago when it was found under the volcanic ash from an earthquake in the 1600's BC.
